This system is not intended as a replacement for sign language learning. It is inntended for those who rely upon sign language for speech to communicate with those who do not understand it. While it is understood that some may find the idea of such instrumentation as working around some disability or disease, it is intended to work around problems of two people communicating - much in the same way google can translate web pages from languages people don't understand. The whole idea of using a glove and any other instruments to electronically evaluate sign language is not a new one, and many different devices have proven that it can can work. But almost all are bulky and impede hand movement of those who are using them. There is also the matter of cost - not many would be able to afford a $5000 glove with barely functional interpretation. Facial expressions play a large factor in meaning interpretation and no system currently supports this, although research continues.
